Bellwoods Removals offer a traditional storage service, which includes us collecting your furniture, storing your furniture and then re delivering your furniture when you`re ready for it.

The main advantage of this style of storage is that we do all the hard work and it keeps storage costs down. As we`re the only people who handle your furniture, our liability cover starts when we collect your furniture and ends when we`ve delivered everything back to you.

Self Storage

Self storage is almost always like traditional storage above, but it`s usually more expensive and you will of course have members of the public walking within a few centimeters of your padlocked storage room. Self storage is usually offered in fixed sizes, often involving a long walk/carry until you reach your unit. Self storage units usually have a mesh roof which offers no protection from dust or even leaky roof’s.

The most worrying disadvantage of self storage is that once your furniture has been moved in and the unit locked up, the removal company who just did the removal now has NO RESPONSIBILITY for any damages at all, even if they’ve just done the removal. Of course the same now applies to the removal out, if something is damaged they cannot be held responsible because you have had access to your furniture throughout the storage duration and therefore anything could have happened in that time.

Traditional Storage

Traditional storage is one of the oldest forms of storage and is still the most common type of storage in use around Huddersfield. Your furniture is allocated an independent space in our Secure warehouse, it is stacked professionally so as to avoid indentation marks, surface damage etc but also in a way that allows your furniture to breathe. Finally everything is completely covered over with industrial dust sheets designed just for traditional storage. There is absolutely no chance of cross contamination occurring the way we allocate space.

One of the main advantages of traditional storage is that we accept liability for any problems throughout the whole removal in, storage and then removal out. Because only we have had access to your furniture you are fully protected as per our terms and conditions and we accept full liability*.

The only disadvantage to this method is that the customer doesn’t have access to their furniture whilst it`s in storage.

Containerised Storage

This is usually the most expensive option of all. A typical storage container is around 250cu/ft (around 7 cu/mtrs). Although this sounds a lot, when you work it out it`s actually only 5ft wide x 5ft long x 10ft tall. As you can probably imagine, you will need 5 or more containers for a typical 3 bedroom house. If a company is charging £15 plus VAT for each container, then youre already at £75 per week plus VAT and then you will need to pay extra for liability cover or insurance depending on what the company offers.

Containerised storage is usually not heated, theres little point in heating a storage warehouse if all the furniture is storage in sealed wooden boxes with no natural airflow.
